Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can I watch four foods through my home network?
The supplied four probes support four food positions with local readings and internet app access through 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. App registration and a working home network are required.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I track three foods and cooking air together?
Yes. Assign one supplied probe to ambient temperature and use the other three in food. That leaves three food positions, not four plus an extra ambient sensor.
Explore this need in the finder →Is the 572°F headline suitable for hours of monitoring?
The manual limits continuous monitoring to 482°F; 572°F is a brief-measurement specification. Use the lower continuous limit for a long oven, grill or smoker session.
Explore this need in the finder →INKBIRD IBBQ-4T: four wired probes with internet viewing
The IBBQ-4T fits the cook who wants several food readings and a real home-network connection. Four probes connect by cable to one rechargeable base, which joins a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. You can inspect readings on the base and follow them through the INKBIRD app. This is a different arrangement from a Bluetooth-only thermometer that requires your phone to stay near the cooker.
The deciding compromise for internet viewing is setup: register in the app, connect to a compatible network and keep the base within working Wi-Fi coverage. You can still read temperatures on the base itself without registering for internet viewing. There is no separate handheld receiver, and Wi-Fi in the base does not remove the cables attached to the food probes.
Four foods, or fewer foods plus cooking air
The standard manual lists four probes and two probe holders. Four probes can follow four foods. A manufacturer-community moderator also confirms that an IBBQ-4T meat probe can measure ambient barbecue temperature within its continuous range. Using one probe for that job leaves three for food; the same probe cannot occupy both positions at once.
That distinction matters when setting expectations for a large cook. If you want four food readings plus an independent chamber reading, the supplied four-channel package cannot deliver five measurement positions. Choose another arrangement or reduce the number of foods tracked simultaneously.
Continuous monitoring stops below the brief-use ceiling
The original manual distinguishes short-time measurement up to 572°F from continuous monitoring up to 482°F. For an hours-long roast or barbecue, use the continuous limit in your comparison. The higher number is not permission to keep the probe and cable in a hotter chamber indefinitely.
The manufacturer warns against direct fire and contact with the heating tube. The electronics also stay outside cooking heat. A food reading can remain much lower than a cable touching a hot surface, so protect the complete lead route rather than judging safety from the temperature shown inside the meat.
Internet access depends on the home connection
The base supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, not a 5 GHz-only network. The documented setup also specifies WPA/WPA2 security and offers two configuration modes. If setup fails, inspect those network requirements before repeatedly resetting the thermometer. App registration uses an email verification step. That requirement concerns the networked app workflow, rather than merely reading the local display.
After setup, the network route supports remote app viewing and alerts. That still depends on connectivity, power and phone notifications. The base's local display is useful beside the cooker, but a local screen should not be mistaken for proof that remote alerts continue during a home-network outage. There is no separate handheld receiver included.
Targets and calibration do different jobs
The app provides chosen high/low temperature limits and cooking targets, with alerts on the device and app. A timer is available too. Keep a time reminder distinct from an internal-food target; one tells you when to check, while the other follows the reading at the probe.
A documented calibration adjustment permits an offset of up to 12°F in either direction. That can be useful when a properly performed reference check identifies a consistent offset. It does not repair a damaged probe or justify adjusting a reading simply because another location in the food is different. The maker's stated accuracy remains a manufacturer specification rather than an independently measured result here.
Charging and cleanup
The exact manual specifies a 2000 mAh battery and standard 5 V/1 A charging. It describes roughly four hours to recharge and about 26 hours of operation without the backlight. Those are stated conditions, not a guarantee for every use. A generic comparison row on the product page gives a different battery capacity; this review follows the exact model specification and original manual.
The base's IPX3 rating is splash resistance, not immersion permission. Keep probe connectors dry and do not submerge the whole probe assembly. The maker's water-resistance language should not become a dishwasher-safe claim. Protect the cable jacket from crushing and sharp bends, and remove the black probe-tip covers before use.
Choose the IBBQ-4T for multiple stationary foods, selectable temperature limits and internet viewing through a suitable home network. Choose a receiver model for simpler phone-free operation, a fully wireless probe for a rotisserie, or a different high-heat configuration when the continuous 482°F limit does not fit your cooking environment.
